Krista Kunkle

Position: Language Arts

Ms. Kunkle is a high school language arts teacher at Georgia Connections Academy (GACA). She started teaching in 1993 and joined GACA in 2011. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Spalding University and a master’s degree from Piedmont College.

When asked why she loves being a teacher at GACA, Ms. Kunkle said:

“I was called to work with teenagers. I love prodding teenagers to think and consider various perspectives as they are processing the world and seeking their own identities. When people ask, “What do you teach?” I often answer, ‘Students!’ They are my primary focus. I just use English and language arts as the medium for their instruction about life.

“I love teaching at GACA because I am able to individualize instruction and meet the needs of students on all levels in a way I have always dreamed of, but could not accomplish in the larger traditional classroom setting.”

I love teaching at GACA because I am able to individualize instruction and meet the needs of students on all levels in a way I have always dreamed of, but could not do in the larger traditional classroom setting. We have resources for every level of instruction and every style of learner. The opportunities for each student to stand out in the classroom are amazing.

I love the fact that my students and I can “do school” anywhere and anytime. Also, there are no snow days!

Connections Academy is great for parents who want to be involved in their child’s education and impart their wisdom. If you don’t want your child lost in the crowd of students in a classroom, this is the best place for focused individual attention from teachers who care about each student individually. If parents are not willing to be involved, and they choose to leave the children to learn on their own, they will find the children often are not mature enough to maintain the discipline required to be successful in the virtual classroom.”
